Abraham Lake weekend ‘overnight ice’ bubble Photo Tours – select January/February Wknds (1 night each)

Description

Frozen ice bubbles & winter photography in Banff National Park at its best! 3 weekend based events on the first three weekends of January giving you some of the best possibilities for photographing cool ice formation on Abraham Lake. Includes a private room for the night, transportation, & professional photography instruction. Max group size: 5 people, Pick up/Drop off in Banff.

We will start with sunrise in the Banff area and then explore along the Icefields Parkway in Banff National Park before arriving at Abraham Lake where we will photograph sunset, night (optional) & sunrise!

Banff from above: 360° of winter – February

Event Cost: $425 + GST

A one of a kind ‘BANFF FROM ABOVE’ experience – during this weekend photography workshop you will be photographing from the mountain tops!

ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP 



A one of a kind “Banff from above” experience – during this two day photography workshop you will photograph Banff from unique vantage points and experience the Canadian Rockies during spectacular light with exclusive access to two mountain tops via gondola ride. This workshop will cover a range of shooting conditions including night time, sunset, sunrise and even a full moon all while having access to ask questions of your two instructors, Kahli April and Nick Fitzhardinge.

They will share tips on composition and technical settings to best suit these world famous locations.

What’s Included: Personalized group Instruction from two experts, 2 x gondola ride fees, Hot chocolate

What’s Not Included: Accommodation (We have a 15% off discount code for you at our recommended hotel – ask us for more details), Travel (you will need to have your own mode of transport), Meals, Insurance (medical, travel and equipment), Personal expenses, National Park Pass (Can be obtained from the park entry gate or the visitor information centre), Optional add on in class editing (select this at check out if you want to attend – spaces are limited).

ITINERARY

Saturday – Meet and greet in Banff in the afternoon – Take the Banff Gondola to the top of Sulphur mountain for sunset / night sky session

Sunday – Meet at location in Banff for sunrise and a full moon set – Take the Lake Louise Gondola to the top of the mountain for a 360 degree view of the endless mountains that make up Banff National Park.

Optional Add on Post Processing session in Canmore in the afternoon (select this at check out if you want to attend – spaces are limited)

CANCELLATION POLICY

This workshop must have a minimum of 5 participants to run. A full refund will be issued in the unlikely case that the workshop is cancelled. Places are non-refundable but are transferable. This is the responsibility of the participant to find a new replacement and handle fee transfer.


Yellowknife Northern Lights Chasing Tour – March + September

Event cost: $1475 + GST

Visit Yellowknife and the far North of Canada to photograph the Northern Lights in a winter landscape during the darkest nights of March!

What is included?

  • Aurora Photography in the Northwest Territories!
  • Twin shared room for 3 nights, breakfasts, transportation, & professional photography instruction
  • Guide/instructor (Nick Fitzhardinge)
  • Max group size: 5 people
  • Pick up/Drop off at Yellowknife Airport

We will chase the Northern lights three nights in a row to a number of locations in and around Yellowknife while staying at a cozy bed & breakfast in Old Town, Yellowknife. There are two events, one on March 12-15th & the other March 17th-20th. Make sure to select the dates that you want upon checkout.

What should I bring to the event?

DSLR/Mirrorless camera, wide angle lenses, tripod, filters, camera bag, cold weather clothing – lots of layers, mitts, beanie/toque, insulated winter boots, thermals, down jacket, face/neck warmer, lots of spare batteries, spare memory cards, headlamp & plenty of energy! We suggest the widest fastest lens that you can bring for capturing the aurora as your most important piece of camera equipment. Ask us for our suggestions! (Telephoto lenses are also nice to bring just in case as we will photograph some edge of the day light too).

What are my transportation options for getting to and from the event?

We will be meeting at 2pm in Yellowknife on day 1 of the tour at our accommodation, checking in and having lunch together. I will pick you up and drop you off at the Yellowknife airport.

How cold will it be and will there be snow & wild weather?

This time of year can be very cold but sometimes it is mild too. Expect anything and even extreme sub zero temperatures of -40 Celcius (-40F) are not uncommon. We will only photograph in safe conditions however so come prepared in case we go out for short bursts of very cold weather shooting. Bring thin inner gloves and large winter gloves for over the top of those which makes camera operation much easier in the cold. Winter boots are essential and a down jacket is too. The beauty of March is it is often the clearest month of the year in this area which will maximize our chances for good aurora viewing!

What is NOT included in the event?

* All food and drink except breakfasts which are included.

* Travel and medical insurance. I highly recommend you purchase these before embarking on this trip.

* Your flights and travel to Yellowknife, NWT. Once you arrive into Yellowknife I will pick you up and take care of the rest!

COVID-19 WORKSHOP POLICY

* We will maintain social distancing, wear masks indoors and follow Alberta Health recommended safety guidelines & group size limitations.

* All in person instruction will happen outdoors. We ask that participants: Adhere to the Alberta self-isolation requirements when traveling.

*Anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, or with close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 in the past 14 days must remain at home.

*All participants must self-screen for symptoms of COVID-19 and isolate immediately if they present symptoms.

*There are no refunds should a participant become ill during the workshop. Masks are required for use in indoor spaces, such as gondola terminals.

*Masks will be worn outdoors when a 2-metre distance cannot be maintained. Please bring your own masks.
